THE BEST WAY TO BALANCE

VIBRANT HEALTH TIP OF THE WEEK~ The Best Way to Balance
Hello All ! We are poised to have our first frost here in New England this week. A sure sign of the change of season upon us. As we journey through these last few days of summer, Fall equinox awaits with its energy of balance and then shifting. Isn't that the way it always is? We may finally feel we have some stability in our lives and then things shift. The only constant is change, so redefining balance as a dynamic flow between two energies is much more in line with the nature of how energy operates.

In yoga, which means union of body, mind and spirit, we cultivate practicing quieting our busy and sometimes frenetically distracted minds with focusing on our breath and allowing over time, the natural, clear, unreactive state of mind to emerge. Call this your NEUTRAL MIND. It neither overly grasps towards what you think you want or reactively pushes away from what you think you don't want.

Being caught between desires and rejections is a very ungrounded way of being and results in multiple stress responses in the body and mind. It drains our energy and keeps us in a tug of war between fear, anxiety and anger. We never feel at peace in this state. Something always makes us feel out of balance and dissatisfied with ourselves, our situations or with others.

WHAT TO DO ?? CULTIVATE A NEUTRAL MIND AS THE BEST WAY TO BALANCE. Daily meditation is key. If new to the practice, start with 5 minutes in the morning upon waking and at night before going to sleep. Sit comfortably and observe the inflow and outflow of your breath without judgement. If the mind wanders , and it will, just begin again. Over time, the minds relentless charge of chatter and distraction will quiet.

Using a mantra is always very powerful to ground you in the present. You can use any word, prayer or mantra that appeals. Inhaling OM, Exhaling Shanti is a great choice. OM for universal consciousness and Shanti for Peace. All mantras carry a high vibration of unity consciousness and help connect us to the neutral mind . When we chant them, either out loud or silently, we activate a sound current or mental current that will clear lower vibrational patterns in the mind that are based in ego and the reactive conditions we normally operate from.

Once you establish a regular , daily meditation practice, many positive health benefits begin to emerge. Your emotions settle, your energy, sleep, mood and physical health improve and maybe most powerfully, you begin to connect to your Higher Self, your spirit and soul energy as the eternal aspect of who you really are beyond your ego and conditioned self. From this connection, we tap into the field of pure consciousness, pure potentiality ,where all things are possible and we discover our deepest truth, our deepest calling to share what we are here to share.

It all starts with making a DAILY COMMITMENT TO SIT and breathe consciously, anchoring into the vibrancy of the present moment. From this space of BALANCE, we journey to the wondrous depths of our souls beauty, just waiting to unfold and find expression in this world. Can you love yourself enough to sow the seeds of health, happiness and an optimal neutral mind by practicing daily meditation? Its my highest intention for you, that you do!

May you have a beautiful Equinox and Fall season of cultivating balance through meditation and an neutral mind.
Om Shanti & Namaste
